The recent above average temperatures have a taken a toll on area snowmobile trails. Even though it’s late February we’d consider current conditions to be Late Season. You may find stretches of low snow, some grass showing, and then areas in the woods were conditions are still good. There is definitely less snow the closer you get into towns along the shores of Lake Superior. Most local clubs are not able to groom the access trails from the CJ Ramstad North Shore State Trail into town.We recommend trailering 9 miles up County Highway 2 to the DNR parking lot.
The DNR did groom the State Trail last night and will do so again tonight and possibly tomorrow (Saturday) night.
Hopefully the weather changes soon to a more cold and snowy pattern.
