Trail conditions

We are anxiously waiting for more snow! Current trail conditions are best described as early season.

We have had some guests recently who have gone riding and had a good time even though more snow is needed.

We would recommend trailing the 7 miles to the parking lot on County 2 to then access the CJ Ramstad/North Shore State Trail.

Trial conditions should improve the farther north you ride towards Silver Bay and Finland.

As conditions improve we will update more frequently and also on our Facebook page.

From the MN DNR website:

Trail snow conditions for: C.J. Ramstad/North Shore State Trail

Comment details: (updated January 4, 2017)
The trail has been groomed from the Forest Hwy 11 near Silver Bay to Grand Marais this week. There is a 1-2″ base from Duluth to Finland and between a 2-5″ base from Finland to Grand Marais. The trail is icy in spots with rocks and brush showing. It’s recommended to start from the parking lots off Forest Hwy 11 or from the Finland parking lot off county road 7. More snow is needed to groom the southern section of trail.
