Snowmobile trail conditionis

We are continuing to pick up some fresh snow this past week which will help to improve trail conditions.

Trail snow conditions for: C.J. Ramstad/North Shore State Trail

Comment details: (updated January 28, 2016)
The trail has been groomed this week & the entire trail is slated to be groomed again on Friday & Saturday night. There is between a 3-6″ base from Duluth to Finland and between a 4-6″ base from Finland to Grand Marais. The trail is in fair to good condition; these conditions will change due to use & the weather.

The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon starts on Sunday, January 31st from the Alger Parking Lot north of Two Harbors & runs the entire North Shore Trail through Wednesday, February 3rd. The trail remains OPEN to snowmobiling however EXTREME CAUTION IS NEEDED WHILE RIDING.

Please slow down & use caution especially where logging operations are occurring & when meeting a groomer. Please be aware of snow covered brush & branches hanging over the trail and icy areas along the trail. Please remember that it only takes a few sleds to go over a freshly groomed section of trail to make it look like we haven’t been grooming.
