Recent snowfall has greatly improved trail conditions especially the further north you ride. The 9 mile local access trail is ride-able but a little rough. The CJ Ramstad/North Shore State Trail was in Excellent condition according to some of our guests yesterday. You can also trailer 8 miles up Hwy. 2 to the DNR parking lot for direct access to the State Trail. Any additional snowfall will greatly improve conditions of the local access trail.

Trail snow conditions for: C.J. Ramstad/North Shore State Trail

Comment details: (updated January 5, 2017)
The entire trail has been groomed this week and the trail from the Pequaywan Trail Junction to Grand Marais is slated to be groomed again on Friday night and from the Alger parking lot to Grand Marais on Saturday night. There isn’t enough snow to groom down to Duluth. There is between a 1-8” base from Duluth to Finland and between a 6-10” base from Finland to Grand Marais. There are logging operations occurring on the trail from north of the Tomahawk Trail Junction to Lake County Road #8 and also south of the Beaver River Shelter. If you do go riding, please use caution especially near logging operations and trail conditions will vary.
