The annual Edmond Fitzgerald Memorial Beacon Lighting Ceremony takes place on Thursday, November 10, 2016
This annual event pays tribute to the tragic sinking of the Great Lakes freighter Edmund Fitzgerald and the loss of her 29 sailors on November 10, 1975.
It is also a time of recognition of all mariners who have lost their lives in Great Lakes shipwrecks.
This is the only opportunity each year for visitors to climb the stairs of the tower to see the light beacon.
With the above average temperatures that we’ve been experiencing it’s also a great time to take a hike along the Sonju Trail and explore the lake shore around Two Harbors.
This paved path winds along the waterfront through a park to the beach at Burlington Bay.
Plan a visit to the Castle Danger Brewery and enjoy some live music.
